Welcome! My goal is to help each of my students grow as readers, writers and thinkers. I hope to provide them with an exciting and enriching year in seventh grade language arts.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I check my email each morning and afternoon and I do my best to respond to emails in a timely fashion. I find a conversation can often be more efficient than email, so please include in your email a number where I can reach you during the day and in the evening.

Homework
The standing homework assignment in this class is to read for a minimum of twenty consecutive minutes, five times per week and to maintain a log of this reading. Other homework may include: short assigned writing; more elaborated responses to reading; preparation for tests and quizzes; projects; and revising and editing of long-term writing assignments.

Grading
I work with a total points system where students earn different points for different assignments. Points may range from five points for a basic homework assignment and participation to up to 100 points for major writing pieces, projects and presentations. Total points in a marking period may equal from 350 – 500.

Availability
I am available to work with students before and after school. Students may drop by my room in the morning or set up an appointment to work with me after school for an extended period of time or during a study hall.
